EcoArt Day

For Culture Days 2023 we partnered with a number of local organizations to host EcoArt Day—an afternoon of collaborative art-making on themes of climate justice, sustainability, and working together for a greener future.

A variety of artist led workshop stations were hosted throughout the Baggage Building Arts Centre including:

Up-Cycling with Céline Mundinger of CréAction Collective.

Paper Making Demonstration with Mindful Makers — hosted by myself (Carol Kajorinne Krievin) and our youth volunteer, Lasko.

Posters for Change with Jayal Chung (Mindful Makers Collective).

Collaborative Poster Making with myself and Mindful Makers volunteers.

Button Making with Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay.

13 Giizis / Moons and an Art Supply Swap hosted by EcoSuperior. At the end of the day, the remaining gently used art supplies were donated to a local school! (Click the link for more info on 13 Moons).

Thanks to Mindful Makers volunteers who helped to greet and orient people to the space, art supplies and activities on offer:

The event saw 105 participants supported by 18 volunteers!

Next, we’re in discussion about displaying, “Dear planet earth,” the up-cylced artwork collaboratively created with Céline Mundinger (CréAction Collective). Stay tuned for more information about where and when it will be displayed for your viewing pleasure!

EcoArt Day was collaboratively supported by EcoSuperior, Mindful Makers, Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay, and CreAction Collective with sponsorship from Clean, Green & Beautiful Thunder Bay and the City of Thunder Bay's Strategic Initiatives & Engagement Division.
