What is Ice Follies?

Ice Follies is a biennial outdoor festival on Lake Nippissing, North Bay, Ontario. The lake acts as source of inspiration for the works created. 2023 celebrates their 10th edition with a theme of Thin Ice. Thirteen artworks are to be presented along with performances, large-scale art installations, community engaged artworks and activities. This free festival is run by Aanmitaagzi, White Water Gallery, and the Near North Mobile Media Lab and is open 24-7 from February 10 – 24, 2023.

What are we building, if it’s not to house future generations? 

Thus far, I have been busy building the structure from wood and aluminum, while ElizaBeth has her attention on the visuals and soundscape for the interior. Next, we will print large images for the interior and I’ll practice programming a mini computer (Raspberry Pi), which will be connected to sensors that trigger the soundscape as you approach.
